Music is entirely intertwined with our love of tequila and love of community.

Since we started Música, supporting local musicians was always a major goal of ours, and we’re so excited about the five incredible local artists we get to sponsor. Each of these musicians are doing phenomenal work, and they all embody Música’s mission in unique and special ways.

Read more about the five musicians and groups we’re currently supporting and learn about how Música promotes local artists with our mission.

Promoting Live and Local Music

At Música, we support and promote local musicians that are exceptionally dedicated to our values. From the beginning, we’ve fallen in love with tequila culture and the way that it combines drink, music, and community in a fresh and lively way. Tequila culture is always changing, but it’s deeply rooted in tradition, music, and bringing people together.

We chose five local artists who embody that culture. They’re all incredibly different artists, but the way they treat people, places, and work to bring others together joins them all in the mission of Música Tequila.

The Phoenix Theory

Musica-sponsored band The Phoenix Theory

The Phoenix Theory brings a wealth of talent and experience from numerous musical endeavors over the years. As a result, The Phoenix Theory have become one of Detroit’s most sought after cover bands over the last decade. They take listeners to new heights of musical entertainment with tightly rehearsed renditions of classic rock and dance favorites from the 60s to today.

With professionalism, integrity, and high energy, you can be sure to experience a show you’ll fondly remember for years to come. That’s what makes The Phoenix Theory such a great music ambassador for Música: their commitment to unique and powerful musical experiences and their ability to bring artistry and excitement to any event or venue.

DONEFOR

Musica-sponsored band DONEFOR

A lot of bands try to play a little bit of everything as “jacks of all trades,” but so few can mix and match genres to the level of expertise of DONEFOR. They shift from heavy breakdowns to catchy choruses in such an easy and seamless way. They really do match up as their self-proclaimed “ADHD embedded in music.”

If you can catch them live, they might switch from pop punk to a wall of death breakdown before going on to cover a song you heard two years ago and forgot about. Even if letting loose and getting involved isn’t quite your thing, they’re just as much fun to sit back and watch with your favorite drink.

Joe Johnson and the Blue Backs

Musica-sponsored band Joe Johnson

Joe Johnson and the Blue Backs have been working to keep the Blues alive in the Midwest since 2007. They play high energy Chicago Blues and blues-rock music, but they love switching things up and feeling where their creative energy takes them. The musician lineup has stayed the same pretty much since they got together, but their music has flowed and evolved in new and exciting ways.

While the Blues are their primary focus, they try to mix things up when they play live, based on the crowd. They are well known to throw in some curveballs with rock, funk, and even country songs from time to time.

Geff Phillips

Musica-sponsored band Geff Phillips

Geff puts on some of the most awe-inspiring, creative, and hilarious shows you’ve ever seen. Geff, as the well-known One Hand Band, often grabs friends and colleagues together to play pop, rock, funk, and country hits from the 60s to the present.

He loves interacting with the crowd, blending humor with unparalleled musical talent. Geff was born with no fingers on his left hand, yet he learned to play seven instruments and has spent his life working in live entertainment. Geff is an all-around optimist and demonstrates that if you set your mind toward something, with a little wit, humor, and determination, you can overcome challenges, achieve your goals, and bring joy to people along the way.

Matt Hurd

Musica-sponsored musician Matt Hurd

Matt is an up and coming singer/songwriter with a voice that will make your jaw drop. Matt is constantly putting out music on Spotify and playing at local venues. Based out of Florida, Matt travels all over the country, bringing people together with his love of music.

If you can catch Matt Hurd in a city near you, a glass of Música and the good vibes will give you a night to remember. Like all of the artists on this list, Matt does more than play fantastic music. He’s a proven entertainer, reading crowds and performing live music for all kinds of people. Matt is a musician, but he’s a professional at bringing joy to the people he plays for.

Supporting Your Local Artists

Supporting local artists is one of our passions, and we’re using Música Tequila as a way to combine some of our favorite passions and hobbies. If you share in those passions, grab a glass of Música at your local bar and listen to some live music. If you can catch any of these artists, you’ll have an incredible night, but be sure to go check out the musicians in your community as well.

Find your Música, wherever you’re planted.
