Building Música: Our Journey in the Tequila Industry

Today, I thought I’d share a bit about the industry side of the tequila business — a part of the story that often goes untold.
When we first started, we immersed ourselves in the world of spirits: studying the history, processes, production methods, quality benchmarks, and brand building. We attended conferences, met countless people, and, of course, participated in a lot of tastings (for research purposes, naturally!).
But as many of you know, an idea alone doesn’t create a successful product or brand. It takes homework, patience, and a willingness to build it the right way. We chose the slower, more intentional path — learning from others’ journeys, meeting with prospective partners, and doing much of the work ourselves.
For us, Música Tequila had to be more than a product; it needed to be authentic, rooted in respect for the Mexican heritage of tequila-making, and driven by a mission we’re deeply passionate about.

Designing the Impossible
Taking our time meant designing a unique bottle — from scratch. Industry experts told us it couldn’t be done, citing design challenges and glass strength concerns. But two years later, through relentless work with our team of engineers and our incredible glass partner, we brought the handcrafted, award-winning Música Tequila bottle to life.

This music-inspired design has already won a Platinum Medal and Innovation Award, and it’s been featured twice in Trend Hunter Magazine for its innovation.

Perfecting the Tequila
Creating the tequila itself was a journey of its own. We spent years working with different distilleries, developing countless prototypes, and analyzing results using engineering principles and feedback from trusted industry partners.
Ultimately, we found our home with Hugo Yerenas and his incredible team at IBEV Casa Tequilera, NOM 1598, in Amatitán, Jalisco, México. Together, we crafted the Música Tequila you know today — aligning on a shared mission, vision, and a roadmap for future offerings that both our families are proud to bring to the world. Today, we are one family with a united Musica Mission.

Celebrating Recognition
I share this journey to put into perspective what it means for Música Tequila to have recently received another Double Gold Medal at the 2025 WSWA Tasting Alliance Spirits Competition in Denver, Colorado.

In just our first year, Música Tequila has been awarded a combined 10 Innovation, Platinum, Double Gold, and Gold Medals, along with 10 Silver Medals from some of the world’s most prestigious spirits competitions.
While we didn’t embark on this journey for the accolades, it’s deeply rewarding to receive recognition from those who have dedicated their careers to the pursuit of excellence in the spirits industry.

Looking Ahead
As we step into our second year, we remain committed to delivering the highest quality, honoring the heritage of tequila-making, and continuing to innovate with limited edition releases that we can’t wait to share with you.

We’re blessed to live our passion for tequila and music while giving back — supporting music education through organizations like Save The Music Foundation and uplifting local musicians who inspire us daily.
I can’t wait to see you all soon — and to raise a glass of Música Tequila in celebration of your successes.
¡Salud!
